"FNA Technology is a custom software development company for businesses in Dubai and the wider UAE, working from our team in Mumbai, India. We build operations systems that replace spreadsheets and email approvals, customer portals, admin dashboards, integrations between the tools you already pay for, and first versions of new products. Mumbai is 1 hour 30 minutes ahead of Dubai, so most of your working day overlaps with ours, and we have shipped software for clients in India and the GCC. For our wider practice, see custom software development; for India-based clients, see custom software development in Mumbai."

OVERVIEW

How long does custom software development take in the UAE?

Most projects take around two months, depending on size. Before the full build, we can make a working demo or proof of concept of your problem in one day, so you can judge the approach on your own process. Discovery then ends with a dated plan for your project, and that plan is the timeline we work to.

Discovery comes first: we map the process the software replaces, who uses it, what each role can see and do, which systems it must connect to, and what can wait for a later version. Design follows, where you review screens and user flows before development starts.

Development runs in milestones, and depending on the project, a milestone can end in working software you can try. Integrations with an ERP, accounting system, payment gateway or government portal usually take longer than the screens, because they depend on third-party access, test environments and approvals that neither of us fully controls.

Testing runs in a separate test environment and covers every role and permission, the integrations, and the awkward cases your team will hit in real use. Moving data out of your current spreadsheets or system is planned as its own piece of work, because old data is rarely as clean as it looks.

What lengthens a timeline most: more user roles, each extra integration, migrating existing data, approval chains that differ by department or branch, Arabic and English content, regulated data such as health or financial records, and slow decisions on either side. Projects move fastest when one person on your side owns the requirements and can approve work within a day or two.

ARCHITECTURE & DELIVERY

How to choose a custom software development company in Dubai

Most quotes look alike until something goes wrong. These are the questions worth asking any software company before you sign, and how we answer them. Treat a price or deadline that nobody can explain as a risk, not a promise.

What is in the price, and who signs?

Ask whether discovery, design, testing, deployment and support after launch are included or extra; a low quote that leaves them out usually costs more later. A good proposal names the milestones, the dependencies and the target dates, and the decisions or third-party access that can move them. Check that you sign with the company that builds the software: with us, you sign with FNA Technology directly, we invoice in USD or AED, and any change to the scope is priced before it is built.

Who owns the code and the accounts?

Ask who will own the source code, the hosting and cloud accounts, domains and third-party subscriptions when the project ends. With us, you own the code; who holds the hosting and other accounts is agreed for each project in writing before work starts.

Who will I speak to?

Ask who your day-to-day contact is and how often you will see progress. With us, an account manager is your point of contact throughout, and work is planned in milestones you can review.

Where will our data live?

Ask where the system will be hosted and how personal data is handled. Personal data generally falls under the UAE data protection law, Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021, and some sectors and free zones have their own rules. We can host in a UAE cloud region when your data has to stay in the country.

What is checked at handover, and what happens after?

Ask how the software will be accepted: every role and permission tested, existing data moved and reconciled, documentation and access handed over. With us, testing runs in a separate test environment before go-live; our support and maintenance service then covers bug fixes, security updates and new features.

Will they tell you not to build?

A builder that never suggests buying an existing tool instead is selling hours, not solving the problem. If off-the-shelf software fits your process, we will say so.

We work with UAE clients remotely, through video calls and regular progress updates. If you need a team that sits in your Dubai office every day, we are not the right fit.

COMPARATIVE INSIGHTS

Buy, configure or build: which is right for you?

Custom software is one of three options, and often not the first one to try. This is how we weigh them with clients during discovery.

Best forStandard needs such as email, payroll and basic accountingCommon business functions with moderate customisationA process that sets you apart, or tools that cannot talk to each other

Often the best answer is a mix: keep your ERP or accounting system for what it does well, and build a small custom tool on top of it for the part it handles badly. Custom software is the wrong choice when an existing tool already covers most of what you need at a fair price, when you need something working next week, when nobody inside the business owns the requirements, when there is no budget for maintenance after launch, or when you are still testing whether customers want the idea. In those cases, buy the tool, configure a platform or start with a small prototype, and we will tell you so.

PRICING & VALUES

How we price and engage: project basis

FNA works on a project basis. Projects typically cost between USD 5,000 and USD 200,000, depending on size. That is about AED 18,400 to AED 734,500 at the dirham's fixed rate of 3.6725 to the US dollar. After a discovery call we write a scope: the user roles, screens, workflows and integrations in the first release, the milestones, and the project price. You see the budget before development starts.

The price moves most with the number of user roles and workflows, each integration such as an ERP, accounting system or payment gateway, migrating existing data, Arabic content, and how much support you want after launch.

Changes after sign-off are scoped and priced before we build them, so the budget only moves when you decide it should.

FNA signs the contract with you directly, and we invoice in US dollars or UAE dirhams.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our enterprise solutions services.

How much does custom software development cost in the UAE?

Projects typically cost between USD 5,000 and USD 200,000, depending on size. That is about AED 18,400 to AED 734,500 at the dirham's fixed rate of 3.6725 to the US dollar. Cost rises with each user role, workflow and integration, with data migration and Arabic content, and with the level of support you choose after launch. We give you a project price after scoping, and invoice in US dollars or UAE dirhams.

How long does custom software development take?

Most projects take around two months, depending on size, and we can build a working demo or proof of concept of your problem in one day. After discovery you get a dated plan. The biggest factors are the number of user roles and workflows, integrations with systems such as your ERP or accounting software, data migration, and how quickly decisions come back from your side.

When is custom software a bad idea for a small UAE business?

When a standard tool already does the job, when you need it working immediately, when nobody on your side can own the requirements, or when there is no budget to maintain it after launch. In those cases use an off-the-shelf tool, configure a platform, or start with a small prototype to test the idea.

How is custom software different from no-code tools?

No-code tools are a good way to test an idea or run a simple internal workflow quickly. They get harder as you add complex permissions, integrations, large amounts of data or many users, because you work within what the platform allows and usually pay per user. Custom software costs more up front but has no per-user licence.

Can you replace our spreadsheets and email approvals with one system?

Yes. Today a single request might be logged in a spreadsheet, approved over email, chased on WhatsApp and re-typed into the accounting system; in one system it is captured once, routed to the right approver, tracked to completion and visible to managers. The safest way to switch is gradually: start with one process, move and check its existing data, and retire the spreadsheet only once the new system has proved itself.

Who owns the software when the project ends?

You own the source code. Who holds the hosting, cloud and other third-party accounts is agreed for each project in writing before work starts, so there are no surprises at handover.

How do you keep our data secure?

We plan roles and permissions in the scope, test in a separate test environment rather than on live data, and can host in a UAE cloud region when your data has to stay in the country. Personal data generally falls under the UAE data protection law, Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021, and some sectors and free zones such as DIFC and ADGM have their own rules, so check what applies to you with a UAE legal advisor.

What does custom software cost to run after launch?

Plan for hosting, any third-party services the system uses such as SMS, WhatsApp, maps or payment fees, and maintenance for bug fixes, security updates and new features. There is no per-user licence fee, but hosting and services such as SMS or WhatsApp grow with use, so ask for a running-cost estimate with the quote.

What technology do you build custom software with?

We choose the stack for each project rather than forcing one on every client. The choice depends on what the software must do, the systems it connects to, who will maintain it after launch and where it has to be hosted, and we explain the recommendation during discovery.

Should I hire a Dubai firm or a remote team?

A firm in Dubai can meet you in person and work on site. A remote team works over video calls and messages, so ask who your contact is, how often you see progress and who signs the contract. With FNA, an account manager is your contact and you sign with FNA Technology directly.

Are you based in Dubai?

No. Our team is in Mumbai, India, 1 hour 30 minutes ahead of UAE time. We work with UAE clients fully remotely, through video calls and regular progress updates, and do not work on-site in Dubai.
